Charlie Martell, The Charitable Adventurer
Former Royal Engineer Charlie Martell is to take on the largest water mass on the planet and become the first person to row land-to-land across the Pacific. Supported by Team Hesco, in 2019 Charlie will leave Japan and head to the USA, with enough food on board to last 180 days while raising funds for charity.
Ben Goss OBE, Mentor and Development Director
Ben Goss OBE is the founder of Give Them A Sporting Chance, one of the beneficiary charities of Row Pacific 2019. Ben has been a member of the Pacific management team since its inception in 2009. His valued judgement, network and enthusiasm has been crucial in developing support for the project and building momentum. In 2015, Ben stepped down as Chair of Give Them A Sporting Chance and with permission from HRH The Princess Royal and the management team, Charlie has taken over as Chairman of the charity.
Chris Martin, Ocean Rower & Mentor
A former Team GB Rower, Chris rowed the Atlantic solo before achieving a Guinness World Record three years later as the first team to row the North Pacific together with ocean rowing legend Mick Dawson. Chris co-founded the Association of Ocean Rowers and is founder of New Ocean Wave whose goal is to help people row oceans, and manages the Great Pacific Race and NOMAN race. Chris is also a member of the steering committee for the Ocean Rowing Society who are Guinness World Record adjudicators for the sport.
Richard Sudbury, Creative
Richard is a freelance creative photographer and illustrator based in Gloucestershire and has been a close friend of Charlie’s since they were at school together from the age of 8. Having worked in the creative industry for over 20 years, with some of the biggest manufacturing, technology and service companies, Richard helps Charlie and the team, charities and sponsors with any photographic, illustrative and branding needs they might have, helping them to gain awareness, create partnerships and gather sponsorship for Charlie’s extreme challenges.
Rob Cullum, Marketing Strategist
Rob is an experienced marketing strategist working within technology, engineering and manufacturing to drive business progression. Having known Charlie for over 20 years, and having closely followed Charlie’s 2012 Pacific adventure, Rob was keen to be involved in the 2019 challenge. This has been as both a sponsor through PACE Networks and providing marketing strategy through Motion Marketing. As an ex-professional racing driver that generated all of his commercial sponsorship, Rob has strong belief that the challenge can deliver benefits for all of those involved – the charities, commercial partners, and Charlie!
